VW Will Produce XL1
The Volkswagen XL1 will see production, after being introduced to the world as a concept back in 2002. Because of its unique aerodynamic design, small diesel engine and super-efficient electric motor, the new model will hold the title of most fuel-efficient vehicle on earth. The plug-in diesel hybrid will achieve 235 mpg, boasts the most aerodynamic body of any car in existence, and can travel 31 miles on electricity alone. For the complete story, see:
Audi to Show A3 Plug-In at Geneva Show
Audi will show an electric-hybrid plug-in car at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show. There is, as yet, no official word on production plans, price, or proposed market coverage, but the company has revealed some preliminary specs on the A3 plug-in. Equipped with a 204-horsepower engine system, the vehicle can reach a maximum speed of 138 mph, and does the zero-to-60 run in 7.5 seconds. Like several EV models already on the market worldwide, the A3 plug-in can travel just over 30 miles on electricity, and reach 81 mph on battery power alone. For the complete story, see:
