Current and Future CEOs Hold Discussion for Young Entrepreneurs Academy

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA- Thursday night, current CEOs and future CEOs got to share experiences as part of the Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce's Young Entrepreneurs Academy.

Several students in the academy have already started their own small businesses. And at Thursday's meeting, they were able to pick the brains of three professionals, all from different backgrounds.

Shauna Parsons, owner of Evergreen Basement Systems, says it's important to give "real world" information to young entrepreneurs. She says there are a lot of things that go into running a business, that you don't learn in school.

"Being a business owner is completely different than just having a job. And I think it's important, especially at this age for them to really get an idea of what it is," said Parsons.

The CEOs also told students stories about how they started their businesses, and how they overcame big obstacles in their careers.
