With manufacturing making a comeback in the country, ManufacturingCrossing.com has been able to find 22,600 jobs in the sector across the country.

Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) March 10, 2013

Jobs in many states in America such as Michigan are slowly coming back through the reshoring model. ManufacturingCrossing (http://www.manufacturingcrossing.com), an Employment Research Institute initiative, lists around 22,600 manufacturing jobs in all for USA, including 1,025 jobs in the Michigan region and around 860 jobs in the Detroit area.

The Reshoring Initiative, an Illinois based organization that tracks reshoring activity, recently mentioned in a report that about 160 U.S. companies have brought back work from other countries in recent years. The report cited data collected from news accounts and trade publications. It further stated that about 30 of those companies are in the Midwest including Michigan.

Also, about 50,000 new U.S. manufacturing jobs have been created through reshoring since January 2010. This figure comes to around 10 percent of all new manufacturing jobs created in the past three years. This shows that ManufacturingCrossing has found nearly half of the total jobs created in the entire country.

For a country that lost more than 6 million jobs in the 2000’s via the offshoring method, the question is how many jobs would reshoring bring back to the United States. According to Global Detroit, yet another organization trying to make Southeast Michigan more attractive to various sectors such as global trade, investment, and immigration, more Michigan companies are becoming interested in reshoring. It also is holding a reshoring conference later this month to discuss opportunities to bring more manufacturing back to the region.
