College Students in Town to Help with Habitat Build

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA - Instead of going home or to the beach for spring break, some college students came to Lynchburg to build a home.

That's the sound of the work being done at the site on Rockbridge Avenue. Students from Connecticut and North Carolina are here volunteering with Habitat for Humanity as part of the alternative spring break program called Collegiate Challenge.

Some students are returning for a second year, after helping build a house two doors down.

"You build it and it's not so fun when you're working really hard, but then you see the people that come and you're making this house for and it's totally and completely worth it," said Anna Rogers, who is helping build the house.

The 33 students will be here all week, working under the supervision of experienced crew members.
