There's an easy way sneak in a lot of those 5 fruits and vegetables into your family's daily routine. Betty Casey from Tulsa Kids magazine stopped by Good Morning Oklahoma recently to talk about an healthy smoothie that's just a fast a grabbing a donut or a pop tart.
She said it's easy to turn it into a healthy St. Patrick's Day snack, too.
"You can give it a silly name for kids like Leprechaun Juice," she said.
Leprechaun Juice
Here's the recipe (this makes one adult serving or two kid servings)
1 banana
1/2 cup low-fat plain Greek yogurt
1 kiwi, chopped (if you prefer, you can use strawberries)
1/2 cup chopped Kale
1/2 cup orange juice (or you can use milk if you prefer)
Optional 2 TBS. Wheat Germ or ground Flax Seed
Optional 2 teaspoons honey
Put it all in a blender and whir it up and enjoy! Really, you can't taste the kale.
