Green Country Instructor Named Principal of the Year
A Green Country instructor was named Oklahoma Elementary Principal of the Year Monday afternoon.
Theresa Kiger, principal at Roy Clark Elementary School, has been named the 2013-2014 Oklahoma Elementary Principal of the Year by the Oklahoma Association of Elementary School Principals, Dr. Gracie Branch, OAESP Executive Director, has announced.
"We congratulate Theresa Kiger for being chosen from so many excellent elementary principals in Oklahoma," Dr. Branch said. "Kiger is an outstanding administrator who is well respected among her colleagues in the profession - especially in the area of community schools - where Kiger has been a national leader."
With this state title, Kiger has the honor of being a National Distinguished Principal in concurrence with the National Association of Elementary School Principals' annual awards program.
Kiger's recognition comes after she spearheaded the Community Schools program at Clark for Union Public Schools. That hard work paid off in 2011 when Clark was one of only three schools that year to receive the National Award of Excellence from the Coalition for Community Schools. Kiger went to Washington, D.C., for national recognition and last year, she was a keynote speaker in San Francisco, speaking on the importance of community schools.
