Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg Airport officials have appealed the decision to close the control tower next month.
Airport Director Mark Courtney sent a letter to the FAA Wednesday requesting that the tower remain open, citing the airport's growth last year.
The Lynchburg Airport is on a list of 173 small airports whose control towers would close by April 7.
This is due to budget cuts from sequestration.
A Kansas senator is planning to propose an amendment that would keep the towers open, which could be voted on this week.
