Liberty (15-20) earned its ticket last Sunday, defeating Charleston Southern, 87-76, to claim the 2013 Big South Championship. Junior point guard Davon Marshall led Liberty's offense during the tournament, averaging 18.0 ppg en route to being voted Tournament MVP. Along with Marshall, junior guard John Caleb Sanders and senior guard Tavares Speaks were also named to the all-tournament team.
Tuesday marks Liberty's first-ever meeting with the Aggies (18-16). North Carolina A&T defeated Morgan State in the MEAC Championship, Saturday, clinching its NCAA Tournament berth. Head coach Cy Alexander's team is led by senior forward Adrian Powell (12.5 ppg) and junior guard Lamont Middleton (12.4 ppg). Even though the Aggies lead the MEAC with 16 tournament championships, it's the first time the Aggies have made the NCAA Tournament since 1995. Alexander coached South Carolina State to five NCAA Tournaments before taking over N.C. A&T this past season.
