Lynchburg - Today's ABC 13 high school Team of the Week is L.C.A. baseball. The Bulldogs rallied from a 2-0 deficit Tuesday night to beat Jefferson Forest 3-2 in nine innings in a matchup of two of the area's top teams. Pitcher Tyler Bergin struck out 11 Cavaliers in 5 innings of work. JF had taken a 2-0 lead in the fifth on Andrew Phemister's two-run single over short. But L.C.A. later tied in the sixth, then won in the 9th on Dylan Vestal's sac fly, the Bulldogs improve to 3-and-2.
Quentin Palmer, who tripled and scored the winning run against JF, said "Just to go out there and give our best last night and get the win in extra innings, that was just a huge confidence builder and we're gonna carry that momentum through the rest of the season."
Tyler Bergin, who struck out 11 batters against JF, said "That'll definitely boost everyone's confidence as a team and we'll just use that as fuel and we'll keep fighting."
