Lynchburg - Our next substantial winter storm system arrives during the second half of our weekend. By late morning Sunday a widespread mix of snow, sleet and rain can be expected across the entire region. The wintry mix continues through late day Sunday. The storm will begin to draw colder air into the state Sunday night, changing the mix over to a period of snow. The storm starts to move away Monday.
Snow/sleet potential: northwest sections, mountains and New River Valley 3-6", Roanoke Valley around 3", Central Virginia 1-3", Southside up to 1" Modifications are likely to be made to these totals before the storm moves in, therefore keep it tuned to ABC-13 for the latest winter storm updates.
Following the storm sunshine returns, but temperatures stay cold for late March. Anticipate afternoon temperatures to only manage the 40s, with overnight lows in the 20s.
