It's been rumored for over three months, but it looks like the University of Tulsa's move to the league formerly known as the Big East is close to becoming a reality.
According to reports from ESPN the Golden Hurricane's departure from Conference USA is "imminent." Big East presidents are expect to vote on bringing Tulsa into the league next week.
The University of Tulsa won't comment on a change in conference affiliation until after an invitation is offered to them. The Golden Hurricane would join the league on July 1, 2014 and start playing in the new league in the 2014 season.
Tulsa would join six other current Conference USA schools in the move. East Carolina, Houston, Memphis, SMU, Central Florida and Tulane are leaving C-USA for the old Big East next year. Navy is also scheduled to join in 2015 in football-only.
Tulsa would bring the league to 12-teams, which is need for a championship football game.
