A Tulsa man was taken in custody Tuesday evening after an investigation revealed that he had downloaded several child pornography files.

Vance Lansford, 45, was arrested by Tulsa Police at his place of employment just before 10 p.m. Tuesday. He was booked on two counts of aggravated possession of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography.

According to an affidavit from Tulsa County, the investigation began back in November of 2012 when Guthrie Police looked into the sharing of "child pornography files on the Ares P2P files sharing network." The investigation led them to Lansford's IP address as a potential candidate for at least 12 files.

A Guthrie officer proceeded to download one of the files and immediately recognized the video to be child pornography. The department then sent a subpoena to the Internet service provider, which identified the IP address as Lansford's.

TPD was made aware of the investigation and a search warrant was obtained for Lansford's residence in west Tulsa, according to the affidavit. At the residence, officers made contact with Lansford who admitted to downloading the child pornography because "he was curious."

In all, officers recovered 20 images and 27 videos from his computer.

Lansford is now in custody and due to appear in court next month.
