Lynchburg Wants $7 M to Fix Up City Stadium

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg is diving head first into the city budget Tuesday and, more often than not, when we're talking money things could get interesting.

Tuesday is the public hearing on the city budget, and it's your chance to tell City Council members where you want your tax dollars.

The public hearing starts at 7 p.m. and there's an Open House starting at 6 p.m. That's when you can sign up to speak at the hearing.

The city's budget can affect everything from storm water to your kid's school, but let's take a look at one capital improvement item: The football field at City Stadium.

The city's Parks and Rec. department runs the field. And they're looking for $7 million to upgrade the facility.

If City Council gives them the money, this could affect a good number of people. Both E.C. Glass and Heritage High School football players use the space.

The hope is to fix up a bunch of things, including the concession stand, locker rooms, PA system, press boxes, even pedestrian access to the field.

As far as what the stadium could look like, only conceptual designs exist now.

If council approves the $7 million, Parks and Rec. will finalize the new look of City Stadium.
