A Webbers Falls man was taken into custody this week on charges that he set his house on fire while his family was inside.
Authorities arrested Charles Mark Shamblin on charges of first degree arson for the incident that took place at his home back on March 31. Shamblin's residence is located in Webbers Falls just southeast of Muskogee.
According to Muskogee County court documents, Shamblin was at his residence when he set fire to a pillow case on the bed and shirt with a cigarette lighter. During the incident, his wife and daughter were located inside the house.
Officials also reported that Shamblin told his wife and daughter that he was "going to burn the house down." Shamblin also had already set one fire in the house before he spoke to his family members.
The Muskogee County District Attorney's office told KTUL.com that Shamblin case went before a judge Thursday where a competency evaluation was ordered. His case will now be put on hold until the evaluation is complete.
