Mommy Monday: Dinner Plate to Help Fight Childhood Obesity

Posted:

In this week's Mommy Monday - a very simple step parents can use to help cut down on childhood obesity.

It all has to do with the size of your dinner plate.

A new study done by the Center for Obesity Research and Education studied 48 kids from two first-grade classes.

The children were allowed to serve themselves.

But they were offered two different-sized plates over the course of eight lunches.

The food was quietly weighed.

The kids consumed more food when the plate was larger.

That's all children, no matter how much they weigh.

Except kids who don't get regular meals.

They helped themselves to even more.

So your child will eat less food if you serve them with a smaller plate.
