It takes a lot of courage to jump higher than ever and take chances on a balance beam. That is why Olympian Betty Okino is coming to town.
The Aim High Academy invited Okino to come share her story of becoming a bronze medalist in 1992. Aim High is a non profit program that coaches children from North Tulsa to become gymnasts. It was started six years ago by Jennifer Patterson who says she wanted to give children more than traditional athletics such as basketball and soccer.
Over the years, the Aim High athletes have grown to nearly 230 participants, boys and girls. They have learned to flip, fall down and get back up to excellence.
Okino will be their keynote speaker for their fundraiser, tonight. Remember, she was an Olympian long before these young gymnasts were born. However, they have used social media, such as Youtube.com to learn about Okino and now they are fans.
You can find out more about tonight's even by clicking on the link, with this story.
