Lynchburg Kids Plant Flowers for Earth Day

Lynchburg, VA - Some local children got to get a little dirty Monday as they celebrate Earth Day.

Toddler and pre-k school children planted flowers and herbs near the Kemper Street trail head in Lynchburg. It's part of the Nature Zone's wildlife education program, and the garden will be open for school groups and children in general to plant and cultivate.

"They actually get to see it grow and see what comes of it and then get to enjoy it as it gets fuller. It's very empty now so they have a lot of work to do," said naturalist Kathie Driscoll.

Not only is Monday Earth Day, this is also historic Garden Week. Lynchburg celebrates Garden Day tomorrow.
