Health Check: Calorie Counts on Menus

Posted:

More and more restaurants have started posting calorie counts on their menus. But researchers say another option might be more effective.

Researchers found that if consumers are aware of the amount of time they'd have to exercise to work off the calories they are eating, they are more likely to order lower calorie options.

The study found participants who ordered off a menu with the exercise time ate 139 fewer calories than those who ordered off a menu with calorie counts.

Several previous studies have shown that providing calorie counts on menus has not been effective.
