Officers placed a 50-year-old man under arrest late Tuesday evening after his mom reported that he was repeatedly spitting on her.
Dale Allen Cohen was charged with one complaint of spreading an infectious disease earlier this week. He was taken into custody at his residence in southwest Tulsa.
According to his arrest report, Tulsa Police responded to Cohen's residence when his mother called them for help. She told them that he has Hepatitis C.
Cohen became angry with his elderly mother and began spitting on her. Cohen also "refused to stop spitting on her," wrote the police officer.
Usually, Hepatitis C is spread when the blood of an infected person comes in contact with someone who is not infected, according to the Tulsa County Health Department. Most people contract the disease by sharing needles or "other equipment to inject drugs."
When officers arrived on scene they found Cohen in the back bedroom and came out when asked. He began to resist the officers in the living room where he was cuffed and refused to stand up and walk.
He was also charged with a count of resisting arrest. He's now being held on $5,000 bond for the first complaint.
