Crime Commission Studies Child Sex Abuse

Richmond, VA - Sex crimes will be a major focus of the Virginia State Crime Commission this year.

The commission has planned to do a comprehensive study on how child sex abuse cases are reported, investigated and tracked.

The commission will also look at the issue of sex between teachers and high school students who are over the age of 18.

Under current law, sex between a teacher and a student is illegal only if the student is a minor.
All of the commission's reports will be sent to the 2014 General Assembly.
