Bassett Man Charged With Murder, Henry Co. Officials Investigate

Henry Co., VA – A Bassett man is charged with second degree murder after Henry County officials say he shot a man early Friday morning.
The Henry County Sheriff's office says they responded to a call at Blackwell Road in Bassett around 2:30 a.m. They found the victim, Sonny James Turner, 44, of Martinsville, with a gunshot wound.
Officials say Thomas Dewayne Turner, 36, shot the victim after an argument. The sheriff's office says both men are cousins.
Thomas Dewayne Turner was charged with second degree murder and use of firearm in the commission of a felony. He's being held in the Henry County jail without bond.
