Court Grants George Huguely's Appeal in Murder Trial

Charlottesville, VA - Convicted University of Virginia lacrosse player George Huguely has been granted an appeal in the murder of Yeardley Love.

Huguely is right now serving a 23 year sentence for killing Love in May of 2010.

The Richmond Times Dispatch reports the judge granted it on Huguely's argument that he was denied a right to counsel when one of his lawyers got sick during his trial last summer.

Now his case goes to the Virginia Court of Appeals. The decision this week by a single judge can be challenged by either party.

Huguely killed Love after getting into a violent confrontation in her Charlottesville apartment.
