Free Child ID Event Saturday in Forest

Posted:

Forest, VA - Investigators with the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force will be making child ID kits during the chocolate festival in Forest Saturday.

To speed up the process, parents can fill out and print the information sheet and consent form on their home computers and bring the paperwork with them.

All the information they collect is saved on a disk for parents to take home.

"This is going to have information that a parent can turn immediately over to law enforcement. It's going to have fingerprints. It's going to have pictures of the children on it, and it's stuff that law enforcement can put into a format that we can distribute to other law enforcement agencies. That we can distribute to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and that we can get out to the media very, very fast," said Lt. Mike Harmony.

The ID event is Saturday during the chocolate festival at the Kroger shopping center in Forest. They'll be set up inside Century 21 from noon until 5 p.m.
