Update: Suspect Charged in Overnight Lynchburg Shooting

Lynchburg, VA - A Lynchburg man is facing multiple charges after police say he shot a man overnight, and attempted to kill another person.

Officers responded to the 900 block of Virginia Street about 3:00 a.m. Monday for a shots fired call. When they got there, they found a man with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was identified as 32-year-old Jemell Johnson of Lynchburg.

Police later charged 31-year-old Sami Abdussalaam with malicious wounding, attempted murder and firearms charges. Police say the attempted murder charge is related to the shooting of a person who was with Johnson, but was not hurt.

Lynchburg, VA - Police say one person is injured after a shooting in Lynchburg early Monday morning.

It happened at around 3 a.m. Monday morning in the 1000 block of Florida Avenue.

Police are still looking for a suspect.
