Family of George Snead Jr. Honored by General Assembly

Lynchburg, VA - The family of a Lynchburg native who became an Army general got special recognition for his contributions Monday.

State Senator Steve Newman presented a General Assembly resolution honoring Brigadier General George Snead Junior at Westminster Canterbury.

Snead recently passed away.

His family members say they really appreciate the recognition.

"I think he valued most the lives he touched whether when he was a leader in the Army or the ability to interface with people in the community.  So he'd be very touched the expression of appreciation and friendship that was here today," said son Ned Snead.

Snead graduated from E.C. Glass before going to VMI. He served in the Army signal corps during World War Two and Vietnam.
