Teens Overeating at 'Healthier' Subway Restaurant

Posted:

It may seem like healthier food than a fast food chain, but a new study finds teens are packing in the calories at Subway as well.

The study in the Journal of Adolescent Health found that teens are just as likely to consume too many calories at Subway as they are at a place like McDonald's.

It found adolescents buy about 1,000 calories worth of food for a meal at both chains, and that's 150 calories more per meal than is recommended.

Teens were asked where they'd go for a healthy meal and most said Subway, but what they got there had almost the same amount of calories as what they got at McDonald's.

McDonald's has more carbohydrates and sugar, but Subway has more sodium.
