When you think of chicken fried steak, you think of greasy-spoons dinners and hungry guys in work clothes.
That's not the case at the New Atlas Grill.
It may have the classiest atmosphere you will ever find, for this type of food.
It's located inside an historic building, in the heart of downtown Tulsa.
It also offers an upscale chicken fried steak, that will impress a business client in a 3-piece suit.
The restaurant is on the ground floor of the historic Atlas Life Building.
It was built in 1922 and it's on the National Registry of Historic Places.
The sounds of cooking, echo off marble, stained glass, brass and terra cotta.
The classy surroundings weren't lost on Jake Robinson.
He was an employee, when he bought the original sandwich shop from his boss, in 2004.
Then he made it a place, that also serves things like a lobster bisque.
Jake says they try to go for a higher level of quality.

It's only served on Wednesday and you'd better get there early, because they only prepare about 30.
Jake says some of their regulars, will even call ahead and reserve one.
"Pretty much all our clientele is regulars.
we see em three to five times a week.
Sometimes twice a day, for breakfast and lunch."
There's demand for the Wednesday special, because their chicken fry is unique.
It isn't a cube steak that's torn up in a tenderizer.
It's thin-cut slices of New York strip steak, that are rolled in a coating mix with secret spices.
It takes about five minutes in bubbling oil to get the meat golden and crisp.
That gets it ready to be be covered in a special sage-cream gravy.
The sides are Yukon Gold mashed potatoes with garlic and honey-cinnamon carrots.
Jake is proud of what they put on the plate and he'll tell you it's worth parking downtown, to try this one out.
"I'd say its he best in Tulsa."
