With the tremendous amount of interest in local area running, particularly on the weekend, organizers are always looking for their own unique twist on their events. At Camp Loughridge in Sapulpa, it's the "Xtreme 5K" run.
Sunday was the sixth annual running of the event. What makes it so extreme? Aside from doing it under a tornado watch, the course was filled with countless obstacles over the 5K span which outlined the camp grounds; such as running through mud pits, climbing over stacks of hay, and maneuvering across a line of tires.
Proceeds from the run are to help fund scholarships for economically disadvantaged children to attend camps held throughout the summer at Camp Loughridge.
