The National Weather Service says the tornado that ripped through more was an EF-5 tornado.

EF-5 is the most intense tornado and can take well-built homes off their foundations. Chances of survival if not underground or in a reinforced shelter are slim to none.

An EF-5 tornado has winds in excess of 200 mph and even as high as 300 mph, so any debris - no matter how small- is deadly.

In 2006, the National Severe Storms Laboratory, National Weather Service, and the Storm prediction Center changed and updated the Fujita scale to new the Enhanced Fujita scale. They changed it to be based more on the damage.

The devastating May 3, 1999 Moore tornado was an F-5 on the old scale.
