Lynchburg Student’s Artwork Heading to Washington


Washington, DC - E.C. Glass High School senior Patricia Byars of Lynchburg won the Sixth Congressional District's 2013 Congressional Art Competition. Byers winning painting is titled "Still Life". 

All winning entries are displayed in a corridor of the U.S. Capitol for one year in an area designated for the artistic talents of today's youth. An awards ceremony will take place in the Capitol in June.

Leah Givens, a junior at E.C. Glass High School, received second place and Elizabeth Akers, a senior at William Fleming High School in Roanoke, was named the third place winner. The second and third place artwork will be on display in Congressman Bob Goodlatte's Roanoke and Lynchburg Offices.
