BASEBALL:

Region B, Div. 1 Semifinals:

William Campbell 7, Luray 2 - Zach Sligh hits a grand slam in the 3rd inning to open the scoring. Dogwood District Player of the Year Colby Harrison went 4 innings and got the win. Brent Guthrie pitched the final 3 innings and struck out 8 to close the door on Luray.

 

Region B, Div. 2 Semifinals:

Wilson Memorial 10, Appomattox County 1 - Kendall Blankenship (A): 2-4

William Monroe 10, Dan River 2

 

Region C, Div. 2 Semifinals:

Glenvar 9, Chilhowie 4

Grayson Co. 10, Floyd Co. 2

 

SOFTBALL:

 Region B, Div. 2 Semifinals:

Dan River 7, Clarke County 1

 

Region B, Div. 1 Semifinals:

George Mason 7, Appomattox Co. 0 - Raiders finish the season 17-2-1

 

BOYS SOCCER:

Region B, Div. 2 Semifinals:

CAROLINA LEAGUE BASEBALL:

Lynchburg 8, Myrtle Beach 2 - Robby Hefflinger hit his third homer in two games for the Hillcats, 14th of the season, tops in the Carolina League.  Navery Moore allowed just three hits and two runs in seven complete innings.  Hillcats have won three in a row, Pelicans have lost six straight.  Lynchburg goes for the 4-game sweep Thursday night at Calvin Falwell Field.

Potomac 9, Salem 8 - Salem led 7-0 in the 5h, the Nationals scored six in the bottom of the 5th to get back in the game. Washington Nationals' outfielder Jayson Werth played a few innings for Potomac in a rehab stint, he had a single in two at-bats.
