Buzz June 1st: Uncle Bill's Day Festival, & Lynchburg's Community Market 230th Anniversary

Uncle Billy's Day Festival is Friday, and Saturday (may 31 & June 1) in Altavista. The two-day festival is at the festival park. It started 64 years ago to commemorate the founding of the Trade Lot. Now, you can enjoy live music, a car show, activities and much more. It will end with fireworks Saturday night. Get a schedule and details on the festival's website.

The band Seven Mile Fold will be on stage at Friday Cheers on Friday in downtown Lynchburg. The band combines contemporary country music with 80's classics and some rock. The gates open at 5:30 p.m., and admission is $5. 

In Lynchburg, the community market turns 230 years old on Saturday! From 7a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be a celebration downtown with the theme "Old as Dirt." You can learn about the market's history and enjoy live music and food.

If you're in the mood for some wine, there will be a tasting at Patrick Henry's Red Hill. Come out Saturday to the terrace from noon to 5 p.m. The $6 tasting ticket includes an entry to the memorial.

And on Saturday night, Lynchburg's Riverfront Park is hosting an event this city has never had before. The International DJ Festival at Riverfront Park from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. DJs from France and Haiti will hit the stage, and tickets are $10 in advance. You can buy tickets online.
