JEFFERSON COUNTY - AL -

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is introducing new technology that will allow the office to communicate more effectively with the community. The sheriff's office announced the launch of a free smartphone app.

Users of the app will have access to real-time jail information, charges and offender information. It is also fully integrated with VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday). This allows crime victims to be notified about the custody status of their offender. The app also offers news, facility locations and maps, the Sheriff's Office directory and top five most wanted. Users can also send in tips and receive emergency notifications on the phone.

The app is free to download and is available for both iPhone and Android smart devices.
