Lynchburg College Holds 15th Annual Conference on Aging

Lynchburg, VA- Over 60 vendors met Tuesday at Lynchburg College for the Annual Conference on Aging.

It's put on by the Beard Center on Aging at L.C. and called Aging Well in Mind, Body and Spirit.
More than 400 people took part in the conference.

One focus was the new health care reform laws that will take effect soon.

Organizers say the past two years have brought substantial changes in health care. The services have been restructured to impact older adults and those who provide care for them.

There were 28 workshops on how to age well and how to take care of someone who is older.
They go over everything from legal, financial advising, and any thing else that will help the baby boomers.

"Our communities are aging and we have over 10,000 people a day turning 65 as our baby boomers age and we're living longer. So we all need to know how to age well, " said Denise Scruggs, Director of The Beard Center on Aging.

Scruggs says some of the best advice on aging well is to stay active. She says the more active you are the better off you age.
