Update: Three People Injured in Amherst Co. ATV Collision

Update Thursday 10 a.m.:

Amherst Co., VA - Officials say three people were injured on the serious crash in Amherst County involving two 4-wheelers Wednesday.

Investigators say just before 8 p.m., the 4-wheelers collided on Wesley Drive near Galts Mill Road.

Three people were hurt: two adults and one juvenile.

The Amherst County Sheriff's Office says one adult was flown to Lynchburg General Hospital, and the other adult and juvenile were taken by ambulance.

Then, those two were later flown to UVA Medical Center for further treatment. Investigators say alcohol was a factor in the crash. Charges are pending.

Investigators say just before 8 p.m. Wednesday, two people driving 4-wheelers on Wesley Drive near Galts Mill Road struck each other head on.

One person was flown to Lynchburg General Hospital. The other was flown to UVa Medical Center.

Investigators say alcohol was a factor in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending against the drivers of those 4-wheelers
