More Than 1,100 Lost Power in Lynchburg


Update 10:30 a.m:

Lynchburg, VA - More than a 1,000 power customers in Lynchburg spent another morning in the dark all because of an animal-related problem.

An Appalachian Power spokesman says a squirrel got into a piece of equipment at about 7:45 a.m., causing 1,100 customers to lose power.

The lights were back on about 10 a.m.

This is just one of several animal-related outages in recent weeks. The last one was last week affecting 2,300 customers near Lynchburg's downtown.


Lynchburg, VA - An Appalachian Power spokesman says a squirrel has caused another power outage in Lynchburg.

Their website is showing 1,168 customers are without power.

Todd Burns says the squirrel got into a piece of equipment.  The same problem caused last week's power outage in Lynchburg when 2,300 customers lost power.

The outage was reported about 7:50 a.m.  

Power should be restored about 9 a.m.
