UPDATE: AEP: Power May Not Be Fully Restored Until Monday Night

Lynchburg, VA - Appalachian Power says most customers in Lynchburg, Roanoke, and surrounding counties should have power back by Monday night. 

Other areas could have it as soon as early Sunday morning.

The outages peaked Thursday afternoon at 125,000 customers.

The most heavily affected areas are southwest of Lynchburg.

In Roanoke County, there are just over 6,000 customers without power.

There are more than 4,500 without power in Franklin County still.

Nearly 2,000 customers are in the dark in Bedford County, and about 150 are without power in Amherst.

In Lynchburg City, there are around 170 remaining customers without power as of Saturday evening.

Lynchburg, VA - Approximately 29,000 Appalachian customers remain without power late Saturday morning. Crews continue to work on restoring power to all areas this weekend.

The Roanoke Valley area was hit the hardest by Thursday's severe storm.

Appalachian Power says most customers in the Lynchburg, Moneta, Roanoke, Rocky Mount and surrounding areas, including all of Amherst, Bedford, Botetourt, Campbell, Franklin, Pittsylvania and Roanoke counties are still scheduled to have their power restored by Monday night.

Most customers in the Fieldale and all other areas in Henry County are still on track to be restored by Sunday evening.

Restoration is ahead of schedule in the Pulaski County area, and AEP expects to have power back to most of their customers by Saturday evening.

There are about 100 remaining customers without power in Giles and Montgomery counties. Restoration in those areas are expected to be complete in by Saturday night.

At one point, outages peaked at 125,000 customers Thursday afternoon as the line of severe storms and winds blew through the area.

Lynchburg, VA – Appalachian Power continues to work on restoring power to areas hit hard by Thursday's severe weather.

More than 27,000 Appalachian customers remain without power as of Saturday morning in Virginia, and company officials say it may take as late as Monday night until power is restored to everyone.

According to a news release, most customers in the Lynchburg, Lovingston, Moneta, Roanoke, Rocky Mount and surrounding areas, including the counties of Amherst, Bedford, Botetourt, Campbell, Franklin, Nelson, Pittsylvania and Roanoke should have their power restored by Monday night.

Appalachian Power says customers in the Fieldale area and nearby localities in Henry County should have their power restored by Sunday evening. Most customers in Pulaski County will be restored by Sunday evening as well.

Customers in Stuart, Christiansburg, Glen Lyn and surrounding areas, including all of Patrick, Giles and Montgomery counties should be restored Saturday night.

More than 2,200 Appalachian Power employees, contract line workers, damage assessors and tree crews remain busy repairing downed lines and power poles this weekend. Appalachian Power is also using outside resources to assist with restoration.
