Danville, VA-- Some Danville residents are happy the city is going to tear down dozens of abandoned buildings.
On Tuesday night, City Council agreed to spend an extra $2.1 million to demolish 160 abandoned homes.
One resident said this move will help increase home value and decrease crime in neighborhoods.
"Overall, I'd have to say it's probably a good idea because a lot of times you get personnel in your neighborhoods that you really don't want there because it could be causing crimes or other acts of devastation that you just don't want," said Charlie Martin Jr., Danville City Resident.
This is the most money Danville City has ever spent on blight eradication. They plan to start demolition right away.
