James River Council for the Arts Holds Annual Membership Meeting

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA- Lynchburg's James River Council for the Arts and Humanities held their annual membership meeting Monday night to catch members up on the council's progress and plans.

Executive Director Krista Boothby says they had a big year with the installation of their Love sculpture at Percival's Island. She also says they've had success getting people involved through their cultural block at Lynchburg's Get Downtown festival.

Boothby is most excited about a new campaign called "The Hills are Alive With the Arts." The campaign will run in local magazines and directs readers to the council's online calendar of events.

"I think there's a misnomer that the Lynchburg area and the surrounding counties, no much happens here, there's not a lot of culture. And, I would beg to differ if they just look at the calendar and saw all that goes on here," said Boothby.

Boothby says you don't have to be a member of the council to add art or cultural events to the calendar.
