Update: 10:30 a.m.:

State Police have identified the accident victim as 43-year-old Mary Adele McKinney of Amherst.  Troopers tell us that weather was not a factor in the crash. McKinney was wearing her seat belt.

Amherst Co., VA - State police are still investigating a deadly accident between a concrete truck and an SUV on Route 60 in Amherst County Wednesday.

The crash occurred Wednesday morning near the intersection of Lowesville Road.

Route 60 was closed earlier, but is now open in at least one direction.

State troopers say the driver of a Jeep Cherokee, a woman in her mid 40s, was in the eastbound lane when she lost control and struck a concrete truck head-on.

The SUV then flew down the guardrail. Pieces of the SUV had to be pulled from the embankment down below.

The concrete truck driver was not injured.

The woman, who was wearing her seatbelt, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Troopers say weather may have played a role in this crash.

The Amherst County Sheriff's Office, Amherst County Public Safety, Virginia State Police, and VDOT all responded to the scene.
