Salem - All-Star Baseball competition in this year's Subway Commonwealth Games is underway at Kiwanis Field in Salem.
All four teams representing the different regions from the state got in their workouts Saturday morning and early Saturday afternoon before round-robin games began. Those games will continue Sunday with the bronze medal game expected to start around 1, the gold medal game likely around 3. A big group of college coaches and some major league scouts came out to evaluate this year's players, many of the top rising high school juniors and seniors in the state. Jefferson Forest pitcher and rising senior Taylor Bell made the West team, along with Tunstall's Brad Hylton and Luke Kaesmeyer, also Hidden Valley's Hayes Nelson to name a few. The North team is the defending gold medal champion.
