Lynchburg - Carolina ran its winning streak to a season-best four at the expense of the Hillcats Monday night. The Mudcats shut out Lynchburg 6-0 in the opener of a four-game series in the Hill City.
Carolina did most of its damage the first inning on an rbi double and two-run homer by Joe Wendle. After a rocky first, Lynchburg starter Ryan Weber settled down and pitched seven complete, striking out six and allowing just one run after the first. But the Hillcats gave him NO run support. Shawn McGill and David Rohm each had two hits, McGill's double in the second sent Will Skinner to third. But Mudcats starter Michael Peoples got out of the jam with one of his six strikeouts, he threw five shutout innings, allowing just four hits with Owen Dew blanking the Hillcats the final four innings.
