Huddleston, VA – The home that fire fighters were on their way to when their fire truck flipped Wednesday morning has been declared a total loss.

According to Bedford County Fire and Rescue, they got the call about the structure fire at 6:11 a.m. Wednesday on Wyatts Way in Huddleston. The caller said the entire back of the home was engulfed in flames.

Fire crews arrived on the scene at 6:22 a.m. and found fire shooting from the rear and the roof of the home.

Responding to the fire, a Forest Volunteer Fire Department truck flipped over, injuring five fire fighters. All have been released from the hospital, according to Virginia State Police.

The fire has been ruled accidental due to an electrical system malfunction.

No injuries from the fire itself were reported.

Crews from Bedford County Department of Fire & Rescue, Huddleston, Evington, Saunders, Moneta, Bedford, and Brookville-Timberlake Fire Departments worked to extinguish the blaze.
