Lynchburg, VA - Thursday night kicked off the week long Virginia Little League All Star Tournament in Lynchburg.

It also kicked started a huge, week long economic stimulus for the Hill City.

More than 1,000 people expected to be here for the event, and all of those players, parents, and coaches are going to be spending their time and money in the Hill City.

"It's been really busy" said Sharon Jones, a front desk employee at Lynchburg's Holiday Inn Downtown.

Thursday was supposed to be Jones' day off. She came in to help with hundreds of check ins.

"Since I got here at 12 o'clock the lobby's been packed" she said.

And they're all here for one reason, "The majority of people staying here tonight are for the tournament?" asked Reporter James Gherardi, "All weekend, all the way till Sunday or Monday, or whenever they check out" said Jones.

Of the 243 rooms in the Holiday Inn, Jones says, only 16 are vacant.

When asked what the tournament meant for business, "Huge, really huge!" replied Jones.

Those hundreds of families flocked from far and wide. 16 teams from all over the state will battle it out in the Virginia Little League All Star Tournament this weekend; a winning weekend for the Hill City, and for one spectacular team.

The majority of the more than 1,000 people this tournament attracts will be in Lynchburg all weekend if not well into next week.
