Potomac Erupts for 5 in 9th to Beat Hillcats

Lynchburg - Potomac erupted for FIVE runs in the ninth to break open a one-run game as the Nationals beat the Hillcats 6-1 for their second win over Lynchburg in three nights.

Lynchburg's Williams Perez would be the tough-luck loser in this one.  Perez pitched a career-high seven strong innings, allowing just one run and three hits, striking out a career-best 8.

Potomac led 1-0 in the sixth and would have made it 2-zip but Kyle Kubitza gunned down Cutter Dykstra at the plate to keep it a one-run game.
It stayed 1-0 until the ninth when the Nationals sent 11 to the plate and scored five runs, Justin Miller and Caleb Ramsey delivered two-run doubles.  The Hillcats avoid being shut out as Matt Lipka led off the ninth with a triple and later scored on David Rohm's single up the middle.
But Potomac won 6-1.  The Nationals and Hillcats wrap up their four-game series Saturday night at 6:05 at Lynchburg's Calvin Falwell Field.
