Lynchburg, VA - Heritage High School's head football coach talked to ABC 13 about the situation with Kyle Edwards.
Edwards is the former quarterback at Amherst County High School, who is now charged with stabbing a man.
Coach Brad Bradley says Edwards was not a student at Heritage. Bradley says that Kyle Edwards was taking summer school classes at Lynchburg City Schools when all this happened.
Campbell County investigators say Edwards stabbed Michael Nichols, 52, at a party in Gladys a couple of weeks ago.
Edwards' attorney denies it, saying Edwards was actually the one assaulted.
Bradley says Edwards and his father did not fill out the required paperwork to transfer him to Heritage and that he did not finish summer school. Therefore, he couldn't be on the team. And he had already un-enrolled in Amherst County schools so he isn't at ANY school right now.
Bradley calls the whole incident unfortunate, saying anytime something like this happens to someone so young, it's sad, but he says he hopes everything works out for him after all his legal trouble gets settled.
Bradley says if something like this happened to anyone on his team, he would suspend him until they get the situation resolved.
