Buzz Aug. 2-4: Aviation Pioneers at the Lynchburg Museum and the Splash & Dash

Many aviation pioneers had their roots in Lynchburg, and Friday, August 2, you have the chance to meet some of them. The Lynchburg Museum will be hosting three men who helped make flight history. Because it's part of "First Fridays" admission to the museum is free from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be historic photographs, log books and other aviation memorabilia.

On Saturday, it should be a perfect day for a run and a swim! Come out to the 2nd annual Anthem James River Splash and Dash on Percival's Island in Lynchburg. You'll have to run a 2 mile trail course, grab a tube and then paddle down the James River. There will be an afterparty at the Depot Grille with music and food.

Also Saturday, the William Campbell Combined School will host the 5th annual Heritage Festival. The event has historical demonstrations, crafters, food vendors and live music. The goal is to show how past generations lived and worked.

For some live music, Phase 2 presents the Old Southern Moonshine Revival Saturday night. The band's second album debuted its first few weeks inside ITunes Top 100 Country Albums. Tickets are $10.
