Update: Officials Identify Man Who Drowned at Ivy Lake

Update 9:30 p.m.:

Bedford Co., VA - Liberty University officials say the man who drowned at Ivy Lake in Forest is 39-year-old Miguel Larios Carbajal. 

Carbajal was from Mexico and was living in the area on a work visa.

Update 4 p.m.:

Bedford Co., VA - Rescue crews have confirmed that a man drowned on Ivy Lake Saturday afternoon.

Authorities from Liberty University, Bedford County and Campbell County were on the scene in Forest. Liberty University owns Ivy Lake. 

Johnnie Moore, Liberty's vice president, says rescue crews found the body of a Hispanic male. The body has not been identified.

Crews received the call about a possible drowning on Ivy Lake in Forest around 2 p.m. 

Several witnesses who were at the lake say they saw the man swimming across the lake when he started struggling and went underwater. They say the man was there with a group of friends.

UPDATE: 3:20 p.m.

Forest, VA - Several area fire and rescue crews are searching for a male they say may have drowned on Ivy Lake in Bedford Co.

Witnesses say the man was swimming across the lake when he went underwater.

First responders were dispatched to the area around 2:15 p.m. Saturday.

Crews from Forest and Bedford are responding with boats on the water.

ABC 13 has a crew on the scene and will bring you further updates as they become available.
