Cuccinelli Meets With Members of Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force

Bedford Co., VA - Republican candidate for Governor Ken Cuccinelli made rounds in our area Thursday.

He was in Bedford County to meet with the members of the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. In his role as Attorney General, Cuccinelli has met with Sheriff Mike Brown and his team numerous times.

Sheriff Brown says he extended an open invitation to Mr. Cuccinelli to stop in any time.

Thursday, the two first met privately in the Sheriff's office, then with members of the task force. Cuccinelli says they talked about current challenges the investigators are facing as they try to find and apprehend online child predators and what needs to happen to continue to fight them in the future.

"The partnership aspect that certainly I've tried to take, not just with Sheriff Brown but across Virginia, is one that you'll see replicated in the Governor's office if I can reach that point," said Cuccinelli.

"He's a tremendous supporter of the ICAC task force and protecting kids throughout the Commonwealth, throughout the country and throughout the world. We know we can go to him. There's not a lot of red tape between Bedford County and Richmond," said Sheriff Mike Brown.

Cuccinelli recently announced the Attorney General's Office is spending part of a Medicare fraud settlement to pay to expand the computer forensics lab at his office in Richmond. That lab could help our local task force if there is ever an evidence backlog.
