City of Tulsa Drops Citation Against Popular Root Beer Stand

Posted: Updated:

A longtime Brookside restaurant has settled its dispute with the City of Tulsa.

A few weeks ago, Weber's Root Beer was cited and fined $300 for a greasy area near their dumpster.

A city inspector worried it could leak into the sewer system, so owner Rick Bilby cleaned it up.

But Bilby said some of it was actually standing water -- and not his fault.

Bilby met with city officials Tuesday morning and learned they have decided to drop the citation.

"The city realizes now that it's a city problem with the street as far as drainage, rubbish and grass go, and they decided they are going to fix it," he explained.

Bilby also said he believes the initial 'grease' the city complained about was dirt, grass and sludge that had accumulated over the years.

"They've agreed all other issues relate to the city fixing the street the way it should be fixed," he said.

Bilby said he's glad he fought back and saved himself the money.
